The SLSA had its beginning in late Apr with the 1st town hall public consultation meetings. Since then we have been focussed on the grass roots activities of formalizing an organizational and committee structure so that we can mobilize as many willing hands as possible .The Board of Directors is now in place and two meetings have been convened to agree on Goals, Objectives and Action Plans. The Committee Structure is rapidly evolving. Terms of Reference are now in draft for each Committee. By-Laws have been prepared for the Association to govern our operations. At the same time, as we continued to grow our membership, we needed to generate a communications strategy which is so vital to an exercise of this magnitude. The SLSA web page will serve as an effective means of communicating key information to both our entire membership and the outside world. We anticipate the approval of our application to become an incorporated non profit society under the Alberta Societies Act within weeks. This will then trigger the application for charitable status.

The Association clearly needs funding now in order for us to implement phase A of the plan which is to restore the water levels of Skeleton lake by pumping water into Skeleton lake from another nearby source. This phase requires engineering studies, biological assessments and the installation of the pipeline, pump house and associated electrical . This funding will be generated through fundraising, donations and government assistance. Your support of the Fundraising Committee activities and Donations Program is vital if we are to meet our goal of diverting water to Skeleton Lake by the spring of 2006.
