Confidentiality Warning
The Internet is not a secure medium and privacy cannot be ensured. Internet e-mail is vulnerable to interception and forging. The SLSA will not be responsible for any damages you or any third party may suffer as a result of the transmission of confidential information that you make to the SLSA through the Internet, or that you expressly or implicitly authorize the SLSA to make, or for any errors or an changes made to any transmitted information.
Computer Viruses
While every effort is made to ensure that all information provided at the Site does not contain computer viruses, you should take reasonable and appropriate precautions to scan for computer viruses and should ensure that you have a complete and current backup of the applicable items of information contained on your computer system. You should pay specific attention to some of the newer viruses that have been written to automatically execute when an infected word processing document is loaded into certain word processing programs.
Choice of Law
The laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein shall govern as to the interpretation, validity and effect of this agreement notwithstanding any conflict of laws provisions or your domicile, residence or physical location. You hereby consent and submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Alberta in any action or proceeding instituted under or related to this agreement.
Submissions
All information submitted to the SLSA via the Site shall be deemed and remain the property of the SLSA subject to the privacy policies and the SLSA shall be free to use, for any purpose, any ideas, concepts, know-how or other techniques contained in information provided to the SLSA through the Site or sent through e-mail. The SLSA shall not be subject to any obligations of confidentiality regarding any such information submitted to it unless specifically agreed by the SLSA or required by law.
Collection of Personal Data
The SLSA does not collect or distribute the IP or e-mail addresses of visitors to our webpage. The SLSA does collect aggregate information on which pages visitors access or visit, and any information volunteered by the visitor through the contact form, membership form, or emails. The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Website and communicate with our members and friends. It is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.
The list of members of the SLSA is used for communication with members only and is not shared with any other organization.
Warning to Young People
Children are warned that they should never provide any personal information such as name, email address, street address or telephone number over the internet unless they have first talked to and received the approval of their parents. We do not wish to collect the personal information of anyone under 18.
Donations
Information provided by donors is collected in a SLSA database and utilized for future communications with members. This information is not shared with any other organization.
It is our policy never to solicit contributions from minors, and no requests for support should in any way be construed as applying to persons under 18 years of age.
E-mail Communication
E-mail communications will from time to time be distributed to members who identify their e-mail addresses in communications to the SLSA. We will not share your e-mail address with other companies or organizations.
Disclosure
Upon request the SLSA will provide members and donors with access to all information that we maintain about them. Donors can access this information by sending an email, or by contacting the SLSA by mail or telephone listed on the contact page here.
Unanticipated Future Changes
From time to time, we may use visitor information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our website to notify you of these changes, plus provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses.
